My name is Johnny Allred, and I am a doctoral candidate in curriculum and instruction at the University of Arkansas. My teaching and research deal primarily with English education and dialogue using digital tools. When I was teaching high school English language arts, I spent the majority of my time and efforts trying to help students write more effectively and read more independently, and I sought new and innovative ways to do that. Those efforts and goals still guide my teaching and research today. As our world becomes increasingly connected to technology and digital tools, I want to explore, evaluate, and share the ways that digital tools can help our students talk about and deepen their understanding of texts, express themselves and engage in productive dialogue with others, and become more critical consumers and producers of information.
This website is a place where I can share resources and thoughts about these topics and others relevant to teaching secondary ELA. It is also a digital portfolio of my academic work, especially things I've written and presentations I've given. If you have stumbled upon this page (which you must have), I hope you find something that will help your students become more digitally literate and better readers and writers! |
